Так вот, у Алоизия Пендергаста есть брат. И брат этот - самый что ни на есть Сатана, рыжий и с разноцветными глазами. Он чокнутый на всю голову социопат, которому мир кажется серым и тошнотворно скучным, и он с такой страшной силой ненавидит Алоизия, что избрал целью своей жизни причинять ему страдания. При этом всеми силами оберегая его от смерти.
Другими словами, все сцены с ним прекрасны.

"Stupidity is an elemental force, and I respect it."

A silence. D'Agosta glanced at Pendergast. In the reflected glow of the streetlights, his face was the color of alabaster. His lips moved, but no sound came.

Like you. You're thirty-five years old and you're unloved and unloving."
